The Hearing Voices That Are Distressing Workshop
This workshop was created by Pat Deegan PhD. Pat is a psychiatric survivor, having first been diagnosed with schizophrenia as a teenager. She received her doctorate in clinical psychology from Duquesne University in 1984. Dr. Deegan developed this innovative training which includes an audio simulation of hearing voices. The "voices curriculum" has received international acclaim and is used to train police officers, psychiatrists, mental health workers and family members to work more compassionately with people diagnosed with mental illness.
